A Peak Inside My Brooklyn Apartment

Finally, it's done!

Welcome to my crib!

Can’t believe the big “reveal” is finally here! I want to reiterate this: I saved up for a long time to make this happen, and my last place on the upper east side was a steal. There, I navigated five years, four flights of stairs, and the occasional mouse (!) so that I could — eventually — move here. I also got a few months free when I signed my lease (COVID silver lining). Plus! I hunted deals like a BOSS when buying all of my furniture. FYI: “Add to cart” (then waiting to buy) is a guaranteed way to get a discount.

Feel free to comment below with any questions.

The Studio

I spend most time in this room. At first, I dreamed of a circular recording table, but considering I’m most often alone in here — it made a lot of sense to opt for an L-shaped desk instead. For recording, I use Shure MV7 microphones and K&M Desk Arms. I fell in love with the cozy barrel chairs from Target the moment I found them on Pinterest. Fun fact, I first ordered my desk chair in a kid’s size by accident. The neon sign was a housewarming gift from my dad, which was custom-designed on Sketch & Etch Neon. The IKEA drawers are excellent for storage, and I rarely turn on the lights, but I love them both (wall lightstanding lamp). The rug’s from Overstock.

The Nathan James bookshelf came with me from my old apartment. The custom marathon posters are from Tracksmith. The brand usually hosts a pop-up at the major marathons, congratulating runners with free posters. The “Work Hard” poster is by Anthony Burrill. It makes my heart happy.

Honorable mention for the Peloton Bike+.

The Living Room

The first pieces I fell in love with for this space were the Castlery Andre coffee tablearc lamp, and Burrow Index wall shelves. After a lot of crowdsourcing, I landed on the Article Ceni couch in fresh white. FYI: “Fresh white” definitely looks more like light grey. I love it. Mustard pillow shams were an IKEA find. Accent chair is Amazon. Capping things off: CB2 TV standNathan James bar cartRoom & Board dining tabletable stoolscircular wall mirror, and modern rug. Posters are from New York or Nowhere, and these are the frames for my marathon bibs.

The Kitchen

The kitchen island makes this space. I didn’t want stools that blocked the view into the living room, so these clear CB2 counter-height stools (“bar” stools are a couple inches taller) are ideal. On the ground: A House of Noa mat. On the counter: Nespresso VertuoPlus and AeroccinoVitamix A3500 BlenderLarge Mason Jars.

The Bedroom

I didn’t put a TV in my bedroom for the first time ever. Super happy with my decision. I love that this room is a true retreat for me, used only for sleeping, journaling, and getting dressed.

The Bathroom

Standard stuff here. Bath matShower caddy shelvingBath tray. It feels really great to have a tub that I actually fit inside! I’m slightly embarrassed to admit how much Sex and the City episodes I’ve watched inside of it already.
